I met Angelica just by luck. I was coming out of a supply store in Lee Vining, California just after getting the fuel bottle for my stove refilled when a woman with a helmet on walked inside. Outside I saw a touring bike with a trailer that was fully loaded with gear. I knew I had to ask this woman where she was headed. It turned out that she was going cross country just like me! But, get this, she had already travelled about 2,500 miles from her home in Victoria, British Columbia all the way down to Mexico. This was definitely someone I could talk shop with. We ended up bicycling through Nevada together which was great because the weather was very hot. and there were lots of long stretches with no food or water. We even did one all night, eleven hour, 114 mile ride from Tonopah to Rachel to beat the heat. The photo above was taken in Tonopah when we were hanging out before our epic night ride. The photo below is us at the Utah border. Contrary to what some people might think, I am giving the thumbs up sign, not trying to hitch a ride. :-)
