Butterfly

I spotted this butterfly on the roadway the day I dropped down out of the Appalachians in Virginia on my way to Washington, D.C. There had been some rain but the weather was quite warm and humid. Perhaps this butterfly was trying to take advantage of the warm pavement to dry its wings.
